Not all STAR plans are alike. UnitedHealthcare Community Plan provides standard benefits under the STAR program for children, families, pregnant women and single adults who qualify based on income. The State of Texas determines eligibility for this plan. In general terms, eligibility is limited to those who are unable to pay for medically necessary services and who meet certain eligibility requirements.
If you lose your Medicaid eligibility you cannot receive care or services under STAR. If you lose Medicaid eligibility but become eligible again within 6 months, you will automatically be re-enrolled with STAR and have the same PCP you had before, unless he or she is no longer a part of STAR.
