Primary Care Provider

We encourage all CHP+ members to choose a primary care provider (PCP). This doctor is who you want to see for your yearly check-up, and who you want to call when you are sick. This doctor will help with well-care exams and will refer to other doctors or medical providers as needed.  

If you have a doctor or primary care provider, look to see if this clinic or medical provider is listed. If you do not have a doctor or clinic that you go to, use the information in the directory to pick a primary care provider.

Call Member Services at 1-877-668-5947, TTY 711 if you need help finding a PCP or if you need a Provider Directory. Each person in your family can have a different PCP.

Emergency and Urgent Care

The Provider Search Tool provides a list of many urgent care centers that you can use. You can use these centers when it’s not a life-threatening situation, but you are sick or need medical care right away and your PCP is not available. Urgent care centers are usually open in the evenings and on weekends.

Emergency rooms (ERs) are for major injuries or sudden sicknesses that may be life threatening and need medical care right away. In an emergency, you should call 911 or go to an ER immediately. If you use the ER for a reason that is not an emergency, you might owe a $3.00 copay. Refer to your CHP+ Member Handbook for more details about visits to the ER.
